This is a big off leash & dog friendly park in the middle of Auckland's eastern suburbs. Dogs are discouraged from swimming in the ponds (it is a bird sanctuary too), but there is lots of grass and different walking tracks to keep things interesting.
And best of all, there will be lots of doggy friends to play with, any time of day!
Parking available on most surrounding streets, as well as the dedicated park on Grand Drive.

Pros: Large Park - able to have dogs off leash (but still under control), free doggie doo bags and doggie doo bins located around the Park. Decent walking tracks and lovely surroundings.
Cons: I hear a Dog Control Officer lays in wait at the Car Park and if you let your dog out of the car without its leash, she's onto you straight away with a ticket for a fine! So - make sure you leash your dog up before letting it out of your car. Also dogs not allowed to go near the wetland areas or into the water for a swim.
I had never heard of this Park before but the GAP Auckland group (Greyhounds as Pets), regularly go there. I'd only had my first adopted Greyhound, Buddy, for about a month and so was keen to meet up with other Greyhound owners and GAP Members.
What an excellent Park for dogs to go running around. Good parking facilities, doggie doo bags provided at various places around the park and doggie doo bins to dispose of your full bags!
My dog Buddy loved this outing - no doubt catching up with some of his old racing buddies!
I'd recommend all dog owners going here at least once.
