Reviews for Lyall Bay Beach

“Good place to get your dog tired”

Reviewed by pinkyI Ama dog lover | an animal lover

Pros: Large area of beach designated for dogs

Cons: Is very exposed to a southerly

I find this beach enjoyable and so does my dog. Lots of other dogs to socialise with - very busy on weekends and sunny days. I have found it rare to have a problem with another dog. A long stretch of open beach has been designated for dogs and my toddler enjoys watching the planes take off and land. The road is behind the sand dunes and could be a problem if your dog isn't too obedient.

“Busy beach walk”

Reviewed by the business 360 Media

Pros: lots of dog socialisation, exercise area

Cons: close to road, limited stretch of dogs-allowed access, busy

Lyall Bay Beach is a great place to take your dog on the weekend for socialisation. It is a very busy dogs-allowed beach. You need a good call back command for your dog as the main road is close to the beach. Most dogs are preoccupied with all the other dogs so probably unlikely to venture onto the road. It is a short stretch up and down the beach but good if you want to play ball and water games with you dog.

“Great beach experience ”

Reviewed by monikaI Ama dog lover

Pros: Dogs just love to run along the beach

Cons: Beach streach is short and not far from a busy road

Just love going to Lyall Bay beach to let the dogs run along the sandy beach.
Mostly friendly dogs and also surfers.

“Fun outing for everyone!”

Reviewed by RosI Ama dog devotee | a cat snuggler | a dog lover

Pros: Expansive exercise area, other dogs to play with, food/coffee near by

Cons: Not ideal on a windy day!

We've been to the Lyall Bay dog beach quite a few times now and it's great! My wee boy Ralph loves it! There are always a wide range of other 4 legged friends to play with and so far all have been super friendly! To top it off there is often a food caravan called 2 Dogs which is AWESOME! Great coffee, food and service. All of this combined makes for a great day out for all of the family (and the cat gets piece and quiet at home while we're out!)
