What is DogMog?

Quite simply DogMog is about your wanting the best for your pet.

DogMog is where you can read about other pet owners experiences with the professionals we entrust our pets with, the products we use to keep our pets healthy and happy, and the walks and parks where we exercise our dogs (or just ourselves!) So have a browse or even better write a review, whether you think your groomer's great or there is room for improvement, join the DogMog community and tell us about it!

Who should use DogMog?

Everyone and anyone who owns a pet, or is thinking about owning a pet  of any kind will find something of interest to them and their pet at DogMog, whether you are new to pet ownership and need some guidance, or have seen it all before and want to help out other pet owners by sharing your experiences.  

At DogMog we believe that an open, honest and respectful environment can generate valuable contributions from all of our members. DogMog encourages participation from everyone, regardless of their age, background or level of expertise.

Is DogMog just for dog and cat owners?

No.  DogMog is for all types of pets, and their owners. Cats, dogs, birds, fish, turtles, axolotls, horses and small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and ferrets are all catered for on DogMog. If you think we should add other animal categories then contact us here 

How do I submit a review?

It's easy to submit a review on DogMog!
First, find the business that provided the service to you & your pet, the product that you used, or the walk you took your pet on. The quickest way to do this is to type that name into one of the search boxes on the site.

Alternatively, you can browse by selecting from services, products, or walks and parks on the home page. Then from the results page select the category (for example, "vets"). Filter the results and once you have found what you are looking for, click on the name then the "Review" button and enter your rating.

Does DogMog edit reviews written by its members?

DogMog doesn't edit or remove reviews unless they are found to be in breach of our review guidelines

How long will it take for my review to appear?

All reviews submitted on DogMog are evaluated to make sure they meet DogMog's rules for reviews.  Reviews will be posted on www.DogMog.co.nz within 24 hours after DogMog has received it. If the review hasn't appeared after this time it may have been deemed to be outside the rules.

Can I post more than one review about a Service, Product or Park?

No, DogMog only allows one review per person, per service, product or park.

What if I want to write about a Product, Service, or Walk that is not listed?

DogMog has a comprehensive database of pet services, products, and walks and parks.  However if you can't find the business that you want to rate on DogMog, please enter it here (you only have to enter the name, address and phone number of the business). If you want to enter a new product enter the product and manufacturer here. Walks, parks and beaches can be added here, if you have an image to share then upload this too, the best one will be posted on DogMog.

The information will be sent to DogMog so the details can be verified. If the details are accurate the new service, product, walk will be added within 24 hours.

Is it ok to write a negative review?

You can write anything you like at DogMog, the good and the bad. As long as the review is based on facts and complies with  DogMog’s terms and conditions your review will be posted . DogMog, other pet owners and most businesses want to hear the honest truth about yours and your pet’s experiences. See our guide to writing a review for more information.  

Will you look after my email address?

DogMog will only use your e-mail address to communicate with you regarding DogMog.co.nz. In particular, DogMog will not publish, sell or use your email address for any other purpose. You will never receive spam from DogMog and your email address will not be published on the DogMog website or provided to the businesses that have been reviewed.

How do I know that the DogMog customer ratings are genuine?

It is vital to DogMog that DogMog members can rely on the validity of the ratings listed. To maintain a high level of integrity DogMog has processes in place in an effort to make sure the reviews that are received are real.

  • DogMog monitors the email addresses of people posting ratings and prevents more than one rating being left for the same product, service or walk from the one email address. This prevents one individual posting multiple reviews, which can create unfair overall ratings
  • All registered businesses have the ability to reply to reviews.
  • DogMog monitors the IP addresses of users to identify those who might be registering multiple email addresses from the same computer and leaving different ratings under them.

Obviously DogMog can't stop people placing false reviews, but DogMog believes that most New Zealand pet owners are a genuine bunch who love and care for their pets, and just want to help other pet owners by sharing their honest experiences, good and bad.

The more that pet owners review the Products, Services and Parks they use, the more useful the ratings system becomes.
